Being Human is Painful and So Are Rainy Day Workouts!

It was painful to watch as Jordan Spieth melted down with a quadruple bogie on the 12th hole of the final round at the Master's today, blowing what seemed like an insurmountable lead. It was painful to watch him almost fall over as he, as last year's champion had to put the green jacket on eventual champion Danny Willett's back. It was also painful to watch him stand and answer questions from the media about "How does it feel..." Like crap, that is how it feels. But it was also a valuable reminder that many of our greatest athlete stars are human... Cam Newton showed us that after the Superbowl. Today Jordan Spieth showed us that on the 12th hole at Augusta.

Today it dumped rain today in Tucson. All day. As you may know our workout area is outside here and when it rains hard, it is not really usable at all. So that meant leg day moved inside and was another metabolic workout. And, as usual... some of the shorter duration workouts are the most painful!

Vintage, Masters and the Workout of the Day!!

Not too long ago my laptop's screen just stopped working. The Apple Care representative that we talked to on the phone asked for the serial number. Once we provided the information, he knew how old the computer was and he started to explain that once a computer was "vintage" like mine that these types of things happen. We laughed at the use of the word "vintage" which must be the Apple/politically correct word for "old as dirt".

The competitive version of the word "vintage" is "masters". Usually the Masters divisions are split into 40-45 years old, 46-50, etc. I am currently the oldest in the young Masters division and I am about to be the youngest in the next division up. Today's workout definitely made me feel "vintage".

Today's quote is from Lucy Liu:

"Everything I buy is vintage and smells funny. Maybe that's why I don't have a boyfriend."

Warm-Up:
3 min continuous air squat
5 min AMRAP:
7 Barbell Overhead Squat with stall at the bottom
7 Barbell Hang Clean
20 seconds Chin Over Bar
Strength:
3 sets of 2 repetitions Power Cleans (Each repetition starts from the floor!)
3 Rounds for Time:
800m Run
21 Squat Cleans (Each repetition starts from the floor!)
15 Hanging Knees to Chest
Cool-Down:
400m Walk/Jog
Mobility:
Quadriceps Stretch
